Painting Calipers

Thanks to shadow penis, I mean SS, for providing nice even strokes.

This was another easy "mod."  I took my brake pads out before I painted the calipers because I think to do it otherwise is lazy, ugly, and ghetto.  I used Rustoleum Industrial Strength "Safety Red."

1. Put car on jacks.

2. Remove wheels.

3. Remove brake pads.  They're held in by a couple of clips at the top and bottom.

4. Clean off the caliper well with a wire brush and brake cleaner.  We used almost a whole can between that and using it to clean stray paint off the LCA's.

5. Wrap up the rotor with a plastic bag from Publix or something similar.  You can slide it underneath the caliper.  We covered the fender with a big blanket to make sure that no overspray got on the paint.

6. Paint.  We did three thin coats.  Thin is good.
